Kay a. Modi
energy Analyst in Residence
Kay Modi is an experienced industry risk analyst and chemical engineer with more than 40 years in the petroleum and petrochemical industry. She started her career with Shell Oil Company in their largest refinery and petrochemical complex. These years included design, construction, and startup of new process units. Kay expanded her work into the midstream sector of oil and gas production, notably pipeline systems, marine terminals, and natural gas processing while maintaining her refining industry focus.
She has frequently served as a speaker, author, and panelist at national conferences on environmental, health, and risk subjects for these industries. She has served as an industrial representative within organizations to develop state and federal regulatory programs. Her recent work has focused on advising corporations on their policies for environmental, health, safety, operational, and asset risk. This includes assessments of mergers and acquisitions, new construction, and abandoned properties.
Kay serves as a guest lecturer in chemical engineering design courses for the Missouri University of Science & Technology (UMR S&T) and was recently inducted into their Academy of Chemical Engineers. She graduated from the UMR S&T with honors and continued post graduate studies in geology, water, wastewater, and stormwater. She has been professionally active in the American Institute of Chemical Engineering and the American Fuels and Petrochemical Manufacturers with certifications in industrial consequence assessments.
Kay lives in Jackson, Wyoming and is an active volunteer in the community. She has lived throughout the US and in Brazil.
