Our Story

Founded in 2002, we bring leaders and communities together in Jackson Hole to drive breakthroughs to global challenges.

From the beginning we have had a niche focus on scaling clean energy solutions from within the globe's largest producers of coal, the most carbon intensive fossil fuel. Wyoming, our home state, is the U.S.'s largest producer of coal.  We work closely with local communities to accelerate economic diversification strategies that can also transform coal regions through new jobs, new industries and thriving communities.

At the global level, in 2003, JHCGA launched our ongoing flagship project; the U.S. China Clean Energy Initiative. This initiative has worked to strengthen clean energy collaboration in fields including carbon capture and beyond between Wyoming and Shanxi, China, the two largest coal-producing regions from the globe’s two largest economies and carbon emitting nations: the USA and China.  For the globe to act on climate, the U.S. and China must lead.

JHCGA manages the Jackson Hole Investor Group.  The JHIG works with federal and state partners to build bridges and investment action between Jackson Hole investors and Wyoming's clean energy opportunities. We work with partners to hold roundtables for energy communities to strengthen strategies to navigate the energy transformation.

Towards bringing communities together in Jackson Hole to create breakthroughs: our Jackson Hole Summit series brings leaders in business, government, investment markets, civil society and more together to generate new thinking on global challenges, with a focus on climate change.  The Global Change Series are free, public events for the Jackson community that dig into the largest global challenges.  Since 2008, our Global Business Roundtable, has been a leading local speaker series that brings the group's members together with dynamic global thinkers.

In all of our work, we welcome collaboration.
